Taro is a plant that has been cultivated for centuries by the Hawaiian People. The taro root is cooked and mashed to make poi, a traditional Hawaiian staple.

Poi is very unique in that it is hypoallergenic. Poi is used in hospitals where we have shipped poi powder internationally, to babies with food allergy problems.

The 5 pound bulk package is made with 2 to 3 day old poi. This means, the bulk poi has a stronger, tart taste when made into the paste for plain eating. This product is still hypoallergenic so, good for all people with food allergy conditions. The bulk product is ideal for baking and other cooking. Fresh poi, as the one pound powder, is more neutral in flavor and best for your luau.

Taro Brand products are manufactured by Honolulu Poi Company. A division of HPC Foods, Ltd. HPC foods is the leading distributor of Hawaiian Foods. Fresh products as:
  • Standard, packaged poi and cooked taro.
  • Lomi Salmon.
  • Lau Lau
  • Kalua Pig and Kalua Turkey.
  • Roast Pork and Char Siu.
  • Cooked Luau Leaf as well as other fresh packaged, processed salad vegetables.

    HPC distributes other brands and processed foods as the KoKo Brand, Sumida Brand and Kona Brand pickled vegetables; Aloha Brand and Kanai Brand tofu products; Litehouse Dips and salad dressings that have fat free product types. Noodle (pasta) products as mandoo, spring rolls and won ton. Other products and brands as well.

    These products are standard supermarket or restaurant packed for local, Oahu deliveries. You may order these products and brands with the understanding that you will be responsible for all freight and delivery responsibilities, including freight packing of these perishable items.
